If you are looking for a fresh look for your summer social get-togethers, <a href="http://www.cousin.com/?Source=beautifullybrokenme.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><span id="goog_1453833271"></span>Cousin's <span id="goog_1453833272"></span></a>Tropicali line is right up your alley!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPrwfswHCq7DifWNNMUfiTYX6m4NeNm2FCAaS-KX3pHHd7-VM7WCw9Tg5TVktWHhZ-OUr1vtpQoge4NJGJtMO1S0hck3Vkbvij6MBt6EOVnBGukfAKSWIhBBuxIpOdKGUGLjj_iQyE5B2C/s1600/Tropicali+Components_opt.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPrwfswHCq7DifWNNMUfiTYX6m4NeNm2FCAaS-KX3pHHd7-VM7WCw9Tg5TVktWHhZ-OUr1vtpQoge4NJGJtMO1S0hck3Vkbvij6MBt6EOVnBGukfAKSWIhBBuxIpOdKGUGLjj_iQyE5B2C/s1600/Tropicali+Components_opt.jpg" /></a></div>
I received this gorgeous mix of summery goodness in the mail and my mind immediately started to spin with ideas on how to put it together. Here are a few pieces I've created that should light your creative spark as well.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The first piece is a necklace made from the blue and cream rope and featuring the lovely silver coral hanging charms:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRD3BltQUFY5pusvPl_BKsXAf_0vvn98_yJziJAQ8Yd3gwaT3nHP9lzT2Y4EUWZNFXiesEwx_kBFHPeHNVTbRIVKa43F5cBwpC3L_YcEvRTjYvMooqfshWyl5UYiyTeOrJhnMugsrgIYLW/s1600/P5180014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRD3BltQUFY5pusvPl_BKsXAf_0vvn98_yJziJAQ8Yd3gwaT3nHP9lzT2Y4EUWZNFXiesEwx_kBFHPeHNVTbRIVKa43F5cBwpC3L_YcEvRTjYvMooqfshWyl5UYiyTeOrJhnMugsrgIYLW/s640/P5180014.JPG" width="639" /></a></div>
Simply knotting the ropes together at regular intervals and adding the rope ends using E6000 adhesive it is just that easy to make. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUSnPSlLn4wTIGaSz1-U0fCXpC7ovBAbnrb9_f310u1AQuvCRzndGUVVNZ_5Gc9PTyRpfjgSQQA5vhfxbjrcJ0XgJkNQrUXxW7DRNVK6PTbqmHM2e4g4eZx5GGItQFeIi1LV77nij90vRg/s1600/P5180013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUSnPSlLn4wTIGaSz1-U0fCXpC7ovBAbnrb9_f310u1AQuvCRzndGUVVNZ_5Gc9PTyRpfjgSQQA5vhfxbjrcJ0XgJkNQrUXxW7DRNVK6PTbqmHM2e4g4eZx5GGItQFeIi1LV77nij90vRg/s640/P5180013.JPG" width="638" /></a></div>
<div>
And by finishing the look with the coral charm grouping, you have a fun, beachy look that would look great with your bikini or a sundress!</div>
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The second piece I made is a bracelet using the silver buckle closure with the coral and blue rope:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhekriyFMOZPsN3B9n-o9XJgwHU0GTrMRlEuzX4ypFMEywCX9rihJT_OaqrBLN0mr39Q26DtWAQeki7BBHaEq_w_32zlhXEeM8x-vua2LRHtFk4jNTQQCpql14kkWDX5NfFfYQzD_xLprWn/s1600/P5180009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhekriyFMOZPsN3B9n-o9XJgwHU0GTrMRlEuzX4ypFMEywCX9rihJT_OaqrBLN0mr39Q26DtWAQeki7BBHaEq_w_32zlhXEeM8x-vua2LRHtFk4jNTQQCpql14kkWDX5NfFfYQzD_xLprWn/s640/P5180009.JPG" width="638" /></a></div>
<div>
For this bracelet, I looked up different kinds of knots you can do with rope and (after a lot of trial and error) decided on this simple slip-knot design which gives the bracelet bulk without looking too fussy and still highlighting the sweet charms and buckle-like closure.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
From the day I received the Tropicali components I knew I wanted to incorporate the sweet octopus into one of my designs, but was a little stuck as how to do it. In the end, I decided to make a fun keychain with him:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD0R3Waxu9wFBiKoYclrvoED4650gxxbVIUz0zfLDM9g8OEyNatR5RZ_BHWjbj38UfwULf_v4SHGRWlqq_-RXF9liLPydl9o7uIVszyeGs__B7crM5sY53JcUQwiLVkhTpzkmGqE34EvFE/s1600/Octopus+Keychain_opt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD0R3Waxu9wFBiKoYclrvoED4650gxxbVIUz0zfLDM9g8OEyNatR5RZ_BHWjbj38UfwULf_v4SHGRWlqq_-RXF9liLPydl9o7uIVszyeGs__B7crM5sY53JcUQwiLVkhTpzkmGqE34EvFE/s640/Octopus+Keychain_opt.jpg" width="636" /></a></div>
<div>
To make it, I used the coral rope, brass end, E6000 adhesive and the octopus charms which I rearranged a little bit on the focal.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Now that I have my summery jewelry and keychain, I am all ready for the beach!</div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>

The premise for this hop is that all of us received this same bead haul:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidO1WkYUn1V8altEFnCQbdXks0m2ylnQCnNZmrV5j-TDvhyphenhyphen2mTDOJ7jmTznZ5u-33Dpl3olJA2Z0ZlYTtZOGxk9xuMY8M7gBgDNCHOsAoU60nntJBBEiTJBd6_hkiP6a6VJSU1_tp4ipjl/s1600/Cousin+Blog+Hop+Beads.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidO1WkYUn1V8altEFnCQbdXks0m2ylnQCnNZmrV5j-TDvhyphenhyphen2mTDOJ7jmTznZ5u-33Dpl3olJA2Z0ZlYTtZOGxk9xuMY8M7gBgDNCHOsAoU60nntJBBEiTJBd6_hkiP6a6VJSU1_tp4ipjl/s1600/Cousin+Blog+Hop+Beads.jpg" height="475" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Beautiful, right? Lots to work with! We could use whatever pieces and parts of the beads that we wanted to use, and then add to them with our personal stash.<br />
<br />
Here are the pieces I made with mine:<br />
<br />
<i>"Southwest Summer"</i>:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixQmT_LW9_WSzaCcd1t53NA1Hk_4aItOYknTYfrfldNjvVNABK10OwlpDhraw8I8RfaRjKFLcUuO1_6o8SDClsTdzdDeUrSn8X14XZQmjyHKId_nphLnf-jhyphenhyphensrXhwAVUccUZ8QwvevDAQ/s1600/P3300006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixQmT_LW9_WSzaCcd1t53NA1Hk_4aItOYknTYfrfldNjvVNABK10OwlpDhraw8I8RfaRjKFLcUuO1_6o8SDClsTdzdDeUrSn8X14XZQmjyHKId_nphLnf-jhyphenhyphensrXhwAVUccUZ8QwvevDAQ/s1600/P3300006.JPG" height="640" width="638" /></a></div>
<br />
If you have seen my jewelry before, you know that I love to combine copper with, well, just about anything! One of my favorite combos is turquoise with copper, and so that's what I did here.<br />
<br />
The necklace is made from beads and chain from the haul, along with a length of my handmade chain. In addition, the focal hangs from a handmade soldered and textured copper ring. This is my favorite set of all of the pieces I made, and plan on wearing it out and about later today.<br />
<br />
The next two pieces are made with a Steampunk-y vibe:<br />
<br />
<i>"Soft Steampunk"</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfXtI4OSLFiP1pmLx1Y2JI4qKjZ5ld39RyyuIN5fBhNp_3SqbQORYMXbHD7MxGwpJr5jBOOtcRsCxy4qWYUY_u9Fqd3PT_9kErt_rLCPP3MzH884h4iNh7KLIPN1mmVY9iYWWYBlboAzZf/s1600/P3300008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfXtI4OSLFiP1pmLx1Y2JI4qKjZ5ld39RyyuIN5fBhNp_3SqbQORYMXbHD7MxGwpJr5jBOOtcRsCxy4qWYUY_u9Fqd3PT_9kErt_rLCPP3MzH884h4iNh7KLIPN1mmVY9iYWWYBlboAzZf/s1600/P3300008.JPG" height="640" width="638" /></a></div>
<i><br /></i>
<i><br /></i>
<i><br /></i>
<i>"Sweet Summer"</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5Uhj_Bqw5L6S5dk4EC9MjJo6sR52XeLoddC4G92choBQ_1Bxw-ySX9X8ynHlVR4KOj3La2dYzbHLJGjoQa531i6sRRBiXr6fqMUxthBtnIX7ECNGj471bm_ch_ieUG9ATp78_u81yFTrC/s1600/P3300015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5Uhj_Bqw5L6S5dk4EC9MjJo6sR52XeLoddC4G92choBQ_1Bxw-ySX9X8ynHlVR4KOj3La2dYzbHLJGjoQa531i6sRRBiXr6fqMUxthBtnIX7ECNGj471bm_ch_ieUG9ATp78_u81yFTrC/s1600/P3300015.JPG" height="640" width="638" /></a></div>
<i><br /></i>
For both of these pieces, I used my handmade copper focals and hung them from 18" chains made from the Czech roundels and the earthy brown gemstone beads. I love the juxtaposition of the girly sparkles with the rustic earthy copper tones.<br />
<br />
The next piece is a simple but striking l-o-n-g (and I mean <i>really </i>long) necklace:<br />
<br />
<i>"Peace"</i><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjznUrNrSyjtH5t7f9tYKW2rjMIFN45E7JkyU6jBDFU1I2mA_WuU_5T7T05XMczxOhiCBVJSyKnvqitTN4FpQzjXqSuoW63YRADtnHnYy2N4VjjU2xijb3i94_FTTMJwRTiX0rE508fb5km/s1600/P3300019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjznUrNrSyjtH5t7f9tYKW2rjMIFN45E7JkyU6jBDFU1I2mA_WuU_5T7T05XMczxOhiCBVJSyKnvqitTN4FpQzjXqSuoW63YRADtnHnYy2N4VjjU2xijb3i94_FTTMJwRTiX0rE508fb5km/s1600/P3300019.JPG" height="640" width="638" /></a></div>
<br />
I've already worn this once, and plan to again! The antiqued brass of the chain and focal keep the rustic tone of the piece, while the leaf and peace sign add the needed pop of color.<br />
<br />
Ok...confession time. I almost didn't post this next piece because I didn't like the way it turned out, but I really wanted to show off the new "beaded bead" technique I learned:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHF1ez170h-h9oNhm115o6U7Ulg9VbT-XDoprVd_ZSjFGnH7bWoAaxN7-mfHHcnxtdbAJlIfz8HZ5CwwgPrO-Kiivl4YugQp7V0CwA2qRm8QxYZSftUIt8yCBuCuBD_pXoYUitpYD0nZX9/s1600/P3300022.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHF1ez170h-h9oNhm115o6U7Ulg9VbT-XDoprVd_ZSjFGnH7bWoAaxN7-mfHHcnxtdbAJlIfz8HZ5CwwgPrO-Kiivl4YugQp7V0CwA2qRm8QxYZSftUIt8yCBuCuBD_pXoYUitpYD0nZX9/s1600/P3300022.JPG" height="638" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I used the black bicone beads and paired them with some smaller aqua bicones to form the focal. I'm not sure exactly what I will end up doing with the beads, but I don't think I will leave them like this. Any suggestions as to what to do? I'm at a bit of a loss!<br />
<br />
Over the next few weeks, I plan on posting some tutorials on how to make these necklaces - I hope you will come back to check them out!<br />
<br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I love hearing people's stories, which is why, after I sent out the call for contributors for the <a href="http://beautifullybrokenme-gratefulliving.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Grateful Living blog</a>, I was so excited that these wonderful ladies responded. For each of these women, I have either spent time with them in person or admired their work from afar, and am so excited they are on board with <a href="http://beautifullybrokenme-gratefulliving.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Grateful Living</a>. I am certain you will enjoy reading their stories over the upcoming months:</span><div>

<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />Karen Baruth: <a href="http://elderberrystreet.blogspot.com/">Elderberry Street</a> - I started following Karen on Instagram last year, and absolutely love her creativity, her style, and, most importantly, her faith. I know you will be blessed by the posts she writes for GL, and I am so grateful to have her on board!</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />Manon: <a href="http://www.sistersofthesun.com/">Sisters of the Sun</a> - this woman is a fantastic artist and (I just found out) is a fellow Arizonian! Her jewelry pieces are to die for, and her paintings are absolutely stunning. After following her on social media for a while, I can tell you that Manon is a woman full of love and compassion, and we are blessed to have her on our team! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />Barbara Lewis: <a href="http://paintingwithfireartwear.blogspot.com/">Painting With Fire Artwear</a> - I fell in love with Barbara's artwork the minute I opened up Belle Armoire Jewelry to find her article on torch-fired enameling years ago. Since then, I have gotten to know her better through her blog, her books and the enameling Ning community she formed, and I am excited for you to get to know her as well. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />Christie Murrow: <a href="http://charisdesignsjewelry.blogspot.com/">Charis Designs</a> - Christie is a woman whose work and faith I have admired through social media. She is transparent in sharing what she believes and what she stands for, and the posts she has submitted reflect the strength I've seen in her artwork. She has a lot to share, and I can't wait for you to read her story!</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />Alexa Nolte: Alexa is one of my girls, and a young woman who is rooted in her faith like few others I've met. She is smart, funny and gracious, and I can't wait for you to meet her!</span></div>

This woman is the mom to 11 (yes, I said 11!) unbelievable kiddos, all the while building up her paper arts business. I have been a lucky recipient of her handmade cards, and even more lucky to be blessed by learning her family's story.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /><a href="https://www.facebook.com/teresa.roberts.7796">Teresa Roberts</a> - Teresa is an art sister who has been a blessing to me through Facebook groups for a couple of online classes we both have taken. I have been able to see her story unfold through her artwork, and her writing, and I know you will be blessed by her posts.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />Shelley Smith: <a href="http://laughterlyricsandlife.com/">Laughter, Lyrics and Life</a> - I am so happy that Shelley agreed to be a part of Grateful Living! She is married to our Creative Arts Pastor, and is the mom to three beautiful girls. Her writing is funny and heartfelt, and I know you will relate to the everyday life stories she shares.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /><a href="https://www.facebook.com/samantha.millertennant">Samantha Tennant</a> - I have known Samantha since Middle School - over 35 years - how crazy is that? Since reconnecting a few years ago through Facebook, I have loved developing a deeper friendship with her that I am excited to share with the rest of you. My OCD not withstanding, I put a tutorial together to show how I do it:<div>

<div>
<b><u>Materials:</u></b></div>
<div>
<a href="http://www.primabead.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=20g&order=relevance&dir=desc/?Source=beautifullybrokenme.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: inherit;">wire</span></a></div>

<br />
<br />
<b><u>From your local hardware store:</u></b><br />
Two 6" lengths of 3/4" wooden dowels (or 2 large sharpie markers)<br />
Duct tape or packing tape<br />
<br />
<b>Step 1:</b> Cut a 12" length of 16g wire. at approximately 5 1/2", bend wire so that both sides of wire are together. Make sure the bend is completely together, using your nylon-jaw pliers if you need to squeeze them together.<br />
<br />
<b>Step 2:</b> Using duct tape or packing tape, tape the two dowels together, leaving a small space between the dowels so the wire can get through. Set the doubled-over wire in between the dowels, bend-end first, making sure the bend fits through the dowels and bend each side of the wire over the dowels (see picture). This will form the top of the heart.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioG0HzTm_tq601kaH3v-42lgNN8UGTfifzKCTwg_ge70i9VocdIVfHM5Jo55Ya-KyJbMNReSWXI9NK5zaZzSF0moqdxQZuA8O7ebo7tmd1dup3QWrRmEplsLWG0ekAlL5gdK4hYZ3xIulE/s1600/P2020009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioG0HzTm_tq601kaH3v-42lgNN8UGTfifzKCTwg_ge70i9VocdIVfHM5Jo55Ya-KyJbMNReSWXI9NK5zaZzSF0moqdxQZuA8O7ebo7tmd1dup3QWrRmEplsLWG0ekAlL5gdK4hYZ3xIulE/s1600/P2020009.JPG" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Step 3:</b> Starting with the short end of wire, start a spiral using your round-nosed pliers. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxlj3R3iO2FVo0TXcIxgorFNDx4B3YcIE5c0-n8k7EvECIpmd2eMReHP6Cn2UqZO1GsPzc934AvqPfqFqFzgRadsyaO0dxuaG_HDhfqIpsZD07q7LgZWIPPscEBV-9Cwl29NLhhBkaSBWW/s1600/P2020014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxlj3R3iO2FVo0TXcIxgorFNDx4B3YcIE5c0-n8k7EvECIpmd2eMReHP6Cn2UqZO1GsPzc934AvqPfqFqFzgRadsyaO0dxuaG_HDhfqIpsZD07q7LgZWIPPscEBV-9Cwl29NLhhBkaSBWW/s1600/P2020014.JPG" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Step 4:</b> Continue to spiral the wire using your nylon-jawed pliers until it fits snugly into the top of the heart.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheduobP0snoc-eLM8n9Uvrdu0foov7H0a6j5gYGLNLyAhLa2IFNFuQSCjpVK8RMxl5kaDUjvG4OTASNYM_9fzWmjlQaZM1wVvDGnH3wcNcLzipx67ZJnAtj3silLZs8c0u5fdqXDGR8aUU/s1600/P2020016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheduobP0snoc-eLM8n9Uvrdu0foov7H0a6j5gYGLNLyAhLa2IFNFuQSCjpVK8RMxl5kaDUjvG4OTASNYM_9fzWmjlQaZM1wVvDGnH3wcNcLzipx67ZJnAtj3silLZs8c0u5fdqXDGR8aUU/s1600/P2020016.JPG" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Step 5:</b> Approximately 3 1/2" from the bottom of the non-spiraled wire, bend the wire into a "V" shape - this will create the bottom of the heart. Start a spiral with this end of the wire in the direction of the "V".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ1l1g4RIyy570R5-WKX_7GgMGvIE-hkxeE2-4ydrI9xxcalHA4-OJA20HqVlgbORBmm9cxtTRwIFQAJQpeCwYfrRJH3sxhwBcEJjcniEUWiM0XWuZqInNQgj7abSrGA7frAMCw5-TUkVq/s1600/P2020019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ1l1g4RIyy570R5-WKX_7GgMGvIE-hkxeE2-4ydrI9xxcalHA4-OJA20HqVlgbORBmm9cxtTRwIFQAJQpeCwYfrRJH3sxhwBcEJjcniEUWiM0XWuZqInNQgj7abSrGA7frAMCw5-TUkVq/s1600/P2020019.JPG" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Step 6:</b> Continue to spiral the wire using your nylon-jawed pliers until it fits snugly into the "V".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik18QKvyaNVnkwBjA-R1T_gl-1-OCU7Zxa95rmnLO_OLflh61cT5qOnZodxopuV-tFLErSpfrBf3shybMsM1UMNCtrx4FZ5pav45I3DNXEGJdK_dzG9sVHtKlPrvduq3tXUmiwX7WF8xGd/s1600/P2020020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik18QKvyaNVnkwBjA-R1T_gl-1-OCU7Zxa95rmnLO_OLflh61cT5qOnZodxopuV-tFLErSpfrBf3shybMsM1UMNCtrx4FZ5pav45I3DNXEGJdK_dzG9sVHtKlPrvduq3tXUmiwX7WF8xGd/s1600/P2020020.JPG" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Voila! You're finished! Just add a jump ring to the non-spiraled side of the heart and hang it on your favorite chain or cord! You can also try adding beads or more wire to the frame, using a heavier gauge wire, hammering the wire for texture, heating the wire for color, or anything else you can think of!<br />
<br />
Have fun, and let me know if you try this technique - I'd love to see your designs!beautifullybrokenmehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16163723965720770778noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4997302548444392051.post-62670659907908869712015-01-31T17:34:00.001-07:002015-01-31T17:34:02.833-07:00Sweet Heart Painting Tutorial<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Wanting to do a sweet project for your sweetheart this Valentine's Day? Here's one for you to try:<br />
<br />
What you will need:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Art-Alternatives-Canvas-Panel-PACK/dp/B00251EVPW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422744495&sr=8-1&keywords=8%22+x+8%22+canvas&pebp=1422744495612&peasin=B00251EVPW" target="_blank">8" x 8" canvas</a><br />

pencil<br />
sandpaper<br />
paintbrushes<br />
<br />
<br />
Step 1: Paint the whole canvas in the moss green color and allow to dry completely. Using sandpaper, sand the whole canvas so the texture of the canvas comes through. Pay particular attention to the center and edges of the canvas.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibty8SHwkonOByvF8TyvPAA907ouXTHTwwfckXOQVypVip7_tX6hq2OjOMtknXYOdDYX3PKVF7tfiUZOEPeSTeZ3pXfrWYedRPX8AxgWarcxp7nZK0lwt52N-E83xeaGHALnRfOMarEmUi/s1600/Sweet+Heart+Painting+Tutorial+Step+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibty8SHwkonOByvF8TyvPAA907ouXTHTwwfckXOQVypVip7_tX6hq2OjOMtknXYOdDYX3PKVF7tfiUZOEPeSTeZ3pXfrWYedRPX8AxgWarcxp7nZK0lwt52N-E83xeaGHALnRfOMarEmUi/s1600/Sweet+Heart+Painting+Tutorial+Step+1.jpg" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<br />
Step 2: Using your pencil, draw a heart onto the canvas and fill it in with the red paint. Allow a bit of the canvas texture to show through the paint, and paint heavier in some places than in others.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeL3MUXnm4w58ksqNRHyCzgLcVFwoI4SuFNMZINe8dy1fy5uGAuOa1z0Re6OtQ6h0mR18ttijOrnwmFThTGLgSf0BxhAZqJQ36H-VMca2ew2x1X4vyZ_gCN9xyBu-CShiFvHhMP5BaQF78/s1600/Sweet+Heart+Painting+Tutorial+Step+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeL3MUXnm4w58ksqNRHyCzgLcVFwoI4SuFNMZINe8dy1fy5uGAuOa1z0Re6OtQ6h0mR18ttijOrnwmFThTGLgSf0BxhAZqJQ36H-VMca2ew2x1X4vyZ_gCN9xyBu-CShiFvHhMP5BaQF78/s1600/Sweet+Heart+Painting+Tutorial+Step+2.jpg" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<br />
Step 3: Paint over the red paint with the light pink paint, using a very dry brush. You can achieve this by loading up your brush with the pink paint and then blotting it on a paper towel before you paint over the red paint. Let some of the red show through and let your brush strokes show. This adds texture to the overall piece.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1bWwxqpdIgLH0En5ifqDjOw9eCv99-YzxseWdMWpwgXF4gQ6DCknKtTJC6zecB3d0ow8ejW-ydwwSjVIN4bK-VpyJ7Ufblf_9UeFK5v3zk76pxV-V-7xmn0T6fREMXMja67MySMdzM87Q/s1600/Sweet+Heart+Painting+Tutorial+Step+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1bWwxqpdIgLH0En5ifqDjOw9eCv99-YzxseWdMWpwgXF4gQ6DCknKtTJC6zecB3d0ow8ejW-ydwwSjVIN4bK-VpyJ7Ufblf_9UeFK5v3zk76pxV-V-7xmn0T6fREMXMja67MySMdzM87Q/s1600/Sweet+Heart+Painting+Tutorial+Step+3.jpg" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Step 4: Using the light purple paint, use the same dry brush technique to lightly add some highlights to the edges of the heart, leaving the center of the heart pink. You can also add some white highlights to the center of the heart, following the lines of the heart shape.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihM7U8D3bqWuODahVk8kb0t7XvRSoD7MDwcX3oLCwcdbbh-RhgWXV0aot1PaV9ag-Vh3UiitJngMQ56tbZDF9w8Hl_z0RHXenf7NnaCGlAS1UD8UEbGgMX1k54MYZSZujh5MwR-08Hhk1x/s1600/Sweet+Heart+Painting+Tutorial+Step+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihM7U8D3bqWuODahVk8kb0t7XvRSoD7MDwcX3oLCwcdbbh-RhgWXV0aot1PaV9ag-Vh3UiitJngMQ56tbZDF9w8Hl_z0RHXenf7NnaCGlAS1UD8UEbGgMX1k54MYZSZujh5MwR-08Hhk1x/s1600/Sweet+Heart+Painting+Tutorial+Step+4.jpg" height="400" width="397" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Step 5: Finish the piece by stamping the "Love" definition off-center in the heart, stamping the decorative background stamp in the corners and using the gelato crayon with water around the outline of the heart and on the edges of the painting. Using your fingers, you can add some of the antique brown paint sparingly around the edges, making sure to blend it into the design. You can also add a bit of the white paint around the outside of the heart outline to further highlight the design.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7nVZupwqy39ZOoFOezh_gCDRxpGzC1_Edz7sEWV-C21x0iwNQw1C1RmAiLbjEST-ssxYz2nq6vH_-AMP5utwXdYGj28kjROynQ-l4fm5qXNycWQOTZjV5cuFUe10ckBepVRm2l9iWB0mD/s1600/Sweet+Heart+Painting+Tutorial+Final.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7nVZupwqy39ZOoFOezh_gCDRxpGzC1_Edz7sEWV-C21x0iwNQw1C1RmAiLbjEST-ssxYz2nq6vH_-AMP5utwXdYGj28kjROynQ-l4fm5qXNycWQOTZjV5cuFUe10ckBepVRm2l9iWB0mD/s1600/Sweet+Heart+Painting+Tutorial+Final.jpg" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's another variation of the painting using a different color palette:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello my name is Molly and I am addicted to wire. All types of wire: copper, silver, colored, oxidized, shiny - you name it and I've worked with it and probably have it in my stash.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The new wire colors and tools that have come out in the past few years have made working with wire even more fun and accessible to the masses. In fact, I made this bracelet with just a few supplies and a fantastic book, <i><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Totally-Twisted-Kerry-Bogert/dp/1596681683/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1422296101&sr=8-6&keywords=totally+twisted/?Source=beautifullybrokenme.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Totally Twisted by Kerry Bogert</a></i>.</div>

Here are the supplies I used:</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnHNn57NP0zaf2D_zt-zqAcuqh26_Fg32HQWtKyZTqBDGwLf28Gbmb-wVdekbWQcr1hhtwwQCklYZiWcfkvkJFJIw11Er1EjJLto5CKZGHKEuE9miA-M2seHsG-oBxAWn2EDi513nbYJuA/s1600/Yellow+Teapot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnHNn57NP0zaf2D_zt-zqAcuqh26_Fg32HQWtKyZTqBDGwLf28Gbmb-wVdekbWQcr1hhtwwQCklYZiWcfkvkJFJIw11Er1EjJLto5CKZGHKEuE9miA-M2seHsG-oBxAWn2EDi513nbYJuA/s1600/Yellow+Teapot.jpg" height="539" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I love teapots. All sorts of them. Old, new, fat, skinny, tall, short - it doesn't matter. I love the graceful lines of their spouts and the feelings they invoke inside me. Growing up, I used to drink tea with my Grandma. Actually, you couldn't really call it tea - mostly milk and sugar with a little Earl Grey mixed in. We would get our tea ready and Grandma would let me sit and drink it in her living room watching TV, and I would feel very grown up and special.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Grandma died a few years ago after nearly 10 years of progressive dementia at the age of 96. It was a strange emotional experience for me. I haven't lived in my hometown since I left for college nearly 30 years ago, and didn't get to see her very often. Yes, I got home to see my family at least once a year, but I didn't see Grandma on a regular basis like they did, and when I did get to see her, most of the time, she didn't recognize me. I guess in my mind, the woman I knew had passed on years before, and her actual death didn't seem as much as a loss to me as it might have otherwise.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">A few months after her death as I was getting ready for a show, I finally grouted a teapot I'd glued the pieces to months before. I love how it turned out. I used old English china, along with a lot of other bits and pieces, and it turned out great. The black grout really showed off the bright colors of the beads and glass in the piece, and highlighted the broken china patterns beautifully.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Usually I get a chance to live with my pieces for a while before I sell them, but this time I needed to make sure I had enough mosaics to take with me, so I brought the teapot along. In reality, most of my mosaic sales from that type of show are for commissioned pieces, and I usually don't sell a whole lot of my higher-priced already-made pieces, so I was not expecting it to sell anyway.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Wouldn't you know it - the teapot sold right away. As I was packing it up to give to my customer, I was struck by a sadness that came out of nowhere. I had no idea what had caused it, and that bothered me a little. Later in the day it hit me - not only did I not get to spend time with this piece before selling it, but I realized that when I created it, it had been a love letter to Grandma. Finally I felt it - the loss of a wonderful, amazing woman who had given me a loving place to just be who I was, without apology or affectation, for my entire childhood. My heart filled with love and loss, and I finally grieved.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I miss Grandma, and at that moment I finally let myself feel that loss. I think I'll do another teapot - just for me this time - and have a cup of Earl Grey with milk and sugar now and again to remind me of her and the love she gave to me.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u><span style="color: #444444;">Tools Needed:</span></u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wire cutters</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Needle-nosed pliers</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1. Cut a piece of leather that is 2x the size of your wrist. For example, if you have 7.5" wrists, you will want to cut a 15" piece of leather.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2. Cut a 15" piece of the 20g wire.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3. Fold the leather in half and, using the 15" piece of wire, wrap the folded end, forming a loop, leaving the long end of the wire attached and hanging with 2 leather strands:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Ypg2mG2-L6djbeCKrKMYEn1MpYSRpsz9UB7fo0C4YDtGVWGKF7s1R9Sm6WD_fsE7_rZkR6U_LH-nlxUoRmxi4N2wZSMowoDJVlXus0YjcH0nLqvQHogKF_7_QybohSKwdNrkvDhcszNn/s1600/P1120017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Ypg2mG2-L6djbeCKrKMYEn1MpYSRpsz9UB7fo0C4YDtGVWGKF7s1R9Sm6WD_fsE7_rZkR6U_LH-nlxUoRmxi4N2wZSMowoDJVlXus0YjcH0nLqvQHogKF_7_QybohSKwdNrkvDhcszNn/s1600/P1120017.JPG" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
4. Cut a length of the rhinestone chain that is 1" shorter than the size of your wrist</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
5. Keeping the two strands of leather tightly side-by-side, lay the rhinestone chain in the little 'valley' between the leather strands and begin to wrap the wire tightly around the leather strands, between each rhinestone link.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
6. Continue wrapping to the end of the rhinestone chain and wrap two times around just the leather strands.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
7. Fold the remaining leather in half to form a loop with both strands and continue wrapping the leather, making sure to include all four strands of leather (see picture above).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
8. Trim off the excess wire, making sure to tuck in the end and secure it tightly with needle-nosed pliers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
9. Add your clasp and you are ready to go!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Try using other color combinations and make a whole bunch of these! If you decide to try this tutorial, I would love to see your results, so post them online, comment below with the link, and I'll share your pictures here!</div>

Happy Wednesday! I hope you all have recovered from the holiday craziness. To kick off the new year I decided to redesign my blog with all new colors and a clean-up of all of the clutter in the sidebars. One thing I really wanted to do was to update the look and colors of my social media icons, and I searched for tutorials on how to do it. The two best tutorials I found were good, but I still had to do a lot of tweaking to get it to look right, so I thought I'd share what I did to make it work:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTrHq59VAvZgNnSdhBhnp3n2CCz5BtuloCms8bHJg4lVqF4_FSJAG888j0tC695u1mfBod5LtTiKs_3IYAwFpxswwwZ0Ss_EqplwbckdVb6aOMkuZGLhWc_S2nlk7Xhppd8QEWv-X-cb5G/s1600/Blog+Tutorial+-+Social+Media+Icons.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTrHq59VAvZgNnSdhBhnp3n2CCz5BtuloCms8bHJg4lVqF4_FSJAG888j0tC695u1mfBod5LtTiKs_3IYAwFpxswwwZ0Ss_EqplwbckdVb6aOMkuZGLhWc_S2nlk7Xhppd8QEWv-X-cb5G/s1600/Blog+Tutorial+-+Social+Media+Icons.png" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><u>How To Add Basic Social Media Icons To Your Blog:</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Before you can add the icons to your blog, you need to have your icon pictures (the little pictures you will be using as buttons for people to click on to go to your social media sites) stored on an online storage site for this to work, so you need to pick one that works for you. The one I use is <a href="http://s407.photobucket.com/" target="_blank">Photobucket</a>. You can do a search for "free social media icons" to find a million and one different kinds and colors. I found these at <a href="http://www.atypicalenglishhome.com/2013/04/free-social-media-icons-in-12-colours.html" target="_blank">A Typical English Home</a>. (There are other great Blogger tutorials on her site, but the one for installing social media icons on your blog needed a few tweaks for my blog, and is the reason I am writing this tutorial):</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.atypicalenglishhome.com/2013/04/free-social-media-icons-in-12-colours.html" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi81FcR9uB9JG9w44-h4tbAXZdYeMbimm6BtqG1BlqBOPhGBujt_6kaalTOe3zTHfqAKKqbP9AtcjXLH6gOxeDq22CmLXEdx9auNphIqlwJhH_czXJBjhglOuw9FoqhNZWWYHKWp0I7VmnT/s1600/ATypicalEnglishHome.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Now you need to upload your individual social media icons to your photo storage site (which for me is Photobucket). And now that you have uploaded the icons you plan on using, you are ready to add them to your blog! Here we go:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="text-align: center;"><b><span style="font-size: x-large;">1.</span> </b>Go to your Blogger Dashboard and choose the blog you want to work with (I have multiple blogs, so this time I am choosing "Beautifully Broken Me"):</span></blockquote>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyTkZklTJm9d9JVUppgxKsO5awkYJdrVG8QynnjWZykkoGeTIEWtQy6ZjjqvkeqUDzKRfhu5rMO8tOGtDOYiid8HtPjqKyS1nIX-yqKfVHLiWZWPKdQfZoW5B8niqvpNP-Swx4s72QSEf9/s1600/Blogger+Dashboard_Layout_Add+A+Gadget_HTML_HTML+Window.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyTkZklTJm9d9JVUppgxKsO5awkYJdrVG8QynnjWZykkoGeTIEWtQy6ZjjqvkeqUDzKRfhu5rMO8tOGtDOYiid8HtPjqKyS1nIX-yqKfVHLiWZWPKdQfZoW5B8niqvpNP-Swx4s72QSEf9/s1600/Blogger+Dashboard_Layout_Add+A+Gadget_HTML_HTML+Window.png" height="438" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now you are ready to enter the HTML code (don't you feel technologically savvy saying that?):</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: x-large;">6. </span> </b>Fill in the "Title" line with whatever you want to call this section (for example, "Where You Can Find Me"). You will notice that I left it blank on mine.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: x-large;">7. </span> </b>Copy the code below and paste it into the "content" window:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: left;">
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.facebook.com/<b>your facebook page name</b>"><img src="<b>enter the direct link to your facebook icon picture here</b>" width="40" height="40" /></a></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.twitter.com/<b>your twitter name</b>"><img src="<b>enter the direct link to your twitter icon picture here</b>" width="40" height="40" /></a></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://instagram.com/<b>your instagram name</b>"><img src="<b>enter the direct link to your instagram icon picture here</b>" width="40" height="40" /></a></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://pinterest.com/<b>your pinterest name</b>"><img src="<b>enter the direct link to your pinterest icon picture here</b>" width="40" height="40" /></a></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: center;">
<a href="mailto:<b>enter your email address here</b>"><img src="<b>enter the direct link to your email icon picture here</b>" width="40" height="40" /></a></blockquote>
</blockquote>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You will need to fill in the <b>BOLD </b>areas with your own information, making sure you don't leave spaces. When adding the direct link to your picture from Photobucket, you can copy that information in the individual picture's page that looks like this (make sure you choose the DIRECT link):</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaAHPoqQiD6givTFqTLtD5EFQhagUycw1RLPHo8OW5YE7QkkFm_W3L4QKsAjuFRX9Iy7A2-UIyY2ELbphK8p5uNwDDmLzTGxqH3dPtSZb-VXVGo8dsV-zWbrzmO7jfHMr6t5L6kCgIf8an/s1600/Photobucket+Links.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaAHPoqQiD6givTFqTLtD5EFQhagUycw1RLPHo8OW5YE7QkkFm_W3L4QKsAjuFRX9Iy7A2-UIyY2ELbphK8p5uNwDDmLzTGxqH3dPtSZb-VXVGo8dsV-zWbrzmO7jfHMr6t5L6kCgIf8an/s1600/Photobucket+Links.png" height="322" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once you have filled in all of your information, click "Save" and then "view blog" to make sure it looks OK. If the sizes of the icons need to be tweaked a bit, you just need to change the "width" and "height" sizes to suit your needs. I have chosen mine to be 40 pixels wide x 40 pixels high, but you may want yours to be smaller or larger.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As I stated above, this is what worked for my blog. If it doesn't work for yours, or if you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment and I'll get back to you with an answer.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

In addition to redoing my blog, I'm reorganizing a whole lot of things in my workshop right now, and am posting this BTW picture to shame myself into finishing up:</div>

Yep - that's my workbench, and I can't get anything done until it is picked up, so that's my project for the rest of the day.</div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;">If you haven't tried it yet, you need to pick up a pen and a piece of paper and try Zen Doodling. I have the privilege of having two of my drawings published in <i><a href="http://www.northlightshop.com/zen-doodle-oodles-of-doodles/?lid=AJcmmar112414" target="_blank">Zen Doodle: Oodles of Doodles</a> </i>from Northlight Books, and also of having one of my published drawings, <i>I Have A Purpose</i> featured on the cover of the book, as well as on their blog (<a href="http://www.createmixedmedia.com/make/zen-doodle-drawing-for-your-art-journal?et_mid=707035&rid=236367779" target="_blank">here </a>is the link).</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Below is the blog post that was originally published on the Create Mixed Media blog on November 24, 2014:</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; color: #333333; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 18px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><em style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">I Have a Purpose</em> is actually taken from a page in my art journal. I love working with vintage books and dictionary pages because they give instant texture and interest to a design. The word purpose is one of my favorites and just happened to be at the top of this page. I started drawing and filling in patterns, and ended up with the finished piece you see here. I love the freedom I have when I doodle. I’m not a huge rule follower, and this art form allows me to wander freely through my mind as I work through the repetitive design elements of a finished piece.</span></div>
</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; color: #333333; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 18px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><img alt="i have a purpose step 1" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-122192" src="http://www.createmixedmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/i-have-a-purpose-step-1.png" height="393" style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" width="400" /></span></div>
</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; color: #333333; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 18px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">1. Glue down an antique dictionary page, leaving the top side without a decoupaged finish. Using a graphite pencil, draw in the main elements of your design. Then, using watercolor pencils and water, fill in your large elements with the color wash of your choice. Allow to dry.</span></div>
</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; color: #333333; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 18px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><img alt="i have a purpose step 2" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-122193" src="http://www.createmixedmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/i-have-a-purpose-step-2.png" height="402" style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" width="400" /></span></div>
</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; color: #333333; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 18px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">2. Start filling in the larger elements with your doodle designs using the graphite pencil. Using a fine-point black gel pen, draw over the penciled-in lines.</span></div>
</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; color: #333333; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 18px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><img alt="i have a purpose step 3" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-122194" src="http://www.createmixedmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/i-have-a-purpose-step-3.png" height="397" style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" width="400" /></span></div>
</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; color: #333333; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 18px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">3. Continue to fill in your flower parts with doodles until the picture feels finished. Then, using a thicker black gel pen, go over some of the lines, making them thicker than others and filling in backgrounds behind some of the doodled elements.</span></div>
</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; color: #333333; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 18px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This first piece is made using the gorgeous oxblood-colored seed beads and larger bead cap of the same color to compliment one of my own fused glass cabochons. Because the colors are so bold and stark, I wanted the design to be soft and feminine for contrast. I made 'ruffles' around the cab and the strap using the oxblood seed beads, and used the glass bead cap as a button for the clasp.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am a big fan of jewelry that is versatile and can be worn in more than one way, and that is the mindset I had going into this second piece, <i>"Winter Love Story"</i>:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0YzsfncVS1Bt0LZNYv3UGTggFWC8Whh3Xr-yr2-wEK0fc73n8UiKiCmR9nfmTn68A30SrMiHqQ9sDT4k0_jyoy7beodiNZs8fzXgXNGGMihukEah9-YJPSe51_DO6cl-vuOGMUPt-ncqI/s1600/PC100050.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0YzsfncVS1Bt0LZNYv3UGTggFWC8Whh3Xr-yr2-wEK0fc73n8UiKiCmR9nfmTn68A30SrMiHqQ9sDT4k0_jyoy7beodiNZs8fzXgXNGGMihukEah9-YJPSe51_DO6cl-vuOGMUPt-ncqI/s1600/PC100050.JPG" height="398" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I saw a technique on Pinterest that I wanted to try (check out the pin <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/553872454147015539/" target="_blank">here</a>), and this challenge was the perfect opportunity to do so. Now, the kit Andrew sent came with a beautiful aubergine waxed linen that I set aside to make sure I didn't lose it...and I lost it. So I pulled out some pewter waxed linen from my stash and set to work.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVo0SzHzafxcqrRaXhDPZnk9CLd-w3U-Vy2D6P0Wq6zDnL3EXCpDQPUSP6Jy_R9VGsk1Mki-9lNkqxb-lRdwDPvYyNkLG-klBkjFjO7K-7CCmtVdNFGyOraxykmbMt9gYpu8dcNGDoRJWY/s1600/PC100053.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVo0SzHzafxcqrRaXhDPZnk9CLd-w3U-Vy2D6P0Wq6zDnL3EXCpDQPUSP6Jy_R9VGsk1Mki-9lNkqxb-lRdwDPvYyNkLG-klBkjFjO7K-7CCmtVdNFGyOraxykmbMt9gYpu8dcNGDoRJWY/s1600/PC100053.JPG" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love the necklace, but wanted to be able to turn it into a wrap bracelet, so I created the bail for the focal in such a way that you can remove it from the necklace easily.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Andrew's handmade 'mystery component' focal is just beautiful, and I wanted to be able to highlight it using the kit color scheme, but still have it stand out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is what it looks like as a wrap bracelet. It is long enough to wrap at least 3 times around, and the colors really stand out against the texture of the linen.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPgfLfFGarWGzQ1FVLqXkkNXFYH5ZyK2H_XJ7BPWPGC-7_3Q3gzypmXeeE_M7jK5tkLWkYea52vgpJ9J6TOL075FMwvIUhodXwcXWvtjbkGHSz0xkaD7r8pCNjfeQX4QcWr9YBOJA8FvnC/s1600/PC100055.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPgfLfFGarWGzQ1FVLqXkkNXFYH5ZyK2H_XJ7BPWPGC-7_3Q3gzypmXeeE_M7jK5tkLWkYea52vgpJ9J6TOL075FMwvIUhodXwcXWvtjbkGHSz0xkaD7r8pCNjfeQX4QcWr9YBOJA8FvnC/s1600/PC100055.JPG" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's a close-up of the clasp I made.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And, finally, of course, after I finished the whole necklace, I found the waxed linen that came with the kit, so I decided to make a pair of earrings with some more of the gorgeous beads:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>"Night on the Town"</i></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I still have beads left over, and am excited to use them in more designs. </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thank you for joining me for this challenge, and, as always, thank you to Andrew for hosting! Please take a few minutes to check out the other participants' beautiful work:</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Welcome to the Do-Over Challenge Blog Hop hosted by the talented <a href="http://wheethepeople2.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Jeannie Dukic of Whee! The People blog</a>!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The way this works is Jeannie sends out an old piece of jewelry that she made and challenges us to use the components of the piece in a new piece of jewelry. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is a photo of the jewelry I received:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggpl7PkX7yrZ4JYQcfbWOOn4AIiDvaKV8FjK0EzREWWOq8ARRZf8qDtWQQJEK2A05vcJLCvmg0-IxLllzNcpokPBgxmpiP9SOORNcZubSHPOWFkHjq96y9M84ddM1bpR4qXmH_smcRPEAi/s1600/P9230003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggpl7PkX7yrZ4JYQcfbWOOn4AIiDvaKV8FjK0EzREWWOq8ARRZf8qDtWQQJEK2A05vcJLCvmg0-IxLllzNcpokPBgxmpiP9SOORNcZubSHPOWFkHjq96y9M84ddM1bpR4qXmH_smcRPEAi/s1600/P9230003.JPG" height="640" width="638" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And here are the pieces I made with these beautiful purple Czech beads:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLN33Va-FhyphenhyphenvIzubVt16vqQZ9oJPWXtISvyklg92aWLoWfP5huK6kNiE8pLYUY24XIRbTxLWn_lZEah_kmEk6SyAEllYuvyO-4txJX89zzuiXQAl82DaCkG8fI2JJ2d13YsaCf0qLyTxch/s1600/PA170003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLN33Va-FhyphenhyphenvIzubVt16vqQZ9oJPWXtISvyklg92aWLoWfP5huK6kNiE8pLYUY24XIRbTxLWn_lZEah_kmEk6SyAEllYuvyO-4txJX89zzuiXQAl82DaCkG8fI2JJ2d13YsaCf0qLyTxch/s1600/PA170003.JPG" height="640" width="638" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For this necklace I pulled out my favorite wireworking book, "Totally Twisted" by Kerry Bogert and found the design for these fabulous links. I also used some beautiful beads from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/firebabies" target="_blank">Mary Cobble at Firebabies</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0CXcUFkhavbeEiCah25S7nXFRLFE3h6oWBzLd2iHY2e8Cj4c0cdgQWHS4cJBnIT97fTiJU9zUgwa3UxmkhcDzfBJUunR03fj9NeFYxmldak9ZPMz1ij6JvtW0jeJOnUe1G8tllzGiRBh8/s1600/PA170001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0CXcUFkhavbeEiCah25S7nXFRLFE3h6oWBzLd2iHY2e8Cj4c0cdgQWHS4cJBnIT97fTiJU9zUgwa3UxmkhcDzfBJUunR03fj9NeFYxmldak9ZPMz1ij6JvtW0jeJOnUe1G8tllzGiRBh8/s1600/PA170001.JPG" height="640" width="638" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The focal for the necklace is an enameled cross I recently made that worked perfectly with the purple beads.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFnThhMnJ_KxHnUWP1alw0wnvLILPNcYpK1vRuvkwGDj48PKvGufgY2pP6gc_d0cITRf-WmZ7ybSJfcakwX55ILg_-nOzr5EABbcOmWYd7r41KsYf6nYpg0vBC7kEaXPrpXl0A2oWYFAVI/s1600/PA170007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFnThhMnJ_KxHnUWP1alw0wnvLILPNcYpK1vRuvkwGDj48PKvGufgY2pP6gc_d0cITRf-WmZ7ybSJfcakwX55ILg_-nOzr5EABbcOmWYd7r41KsYf6nYpg0vBC7kEaXPrpXl0A2oWYFAVI/s1600/PA170007.JPG" height="640" width="638" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I decided to use the rest of the beads and the clasp from the original set in a couple of fun bracelets:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR_cRbb1pJPUgnm3n0PJKO-2Qie3-Hz_yMFCQwfQldFXYIq7OY_rPFw8RbzQ6_Hg_QkzGsdc9WioEI-Hk-vLuispDLPlgith3tjHP8m1rtx2rbUH74jNoV-bQqNlrPpX1lwaOb5SQsnpJI/s1600/PA170014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR_cRbb1pJPUgnm3n0PJKO-2Qie3-Hz_yMFCQwfQldFXYIq7OY_rPFw8RbzQ6_Hg_QkzGsdc9WioEI-Hk-vLuispDLPlgith3tjHP8m1rtx2rbUH74jNoV-bQqNlrPpX1lwaOb5SQsnpJI/s1600/PA170014.JPG" height="640" width="638" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This bracelet is made with the larger Czech beads, the silver clasp and black waxed linen thread.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9oAr2KtdcGcw56CPWMWOlrcsz3UZn-RG3kab2Gfh2PrkbSQ-RTCiWsd-ryqASyNSXPaXCr29ChEKKm4M3tCiY6xaQejGjjVR7-LUDjfREjQI2TD7c6lOzlsw9Bn5dkhKSiikBAxjjeP7a/s1600/PA170012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9oAr2KtdcGcw56CPWMWOlrcsz3UZn-RG3kab2Gfh2PrkbSQ-RTCiWsd-ryqASyNSXPaXCr29ChEKKm4M3tCiY6xaQejGjjVR7-LUDjfREjQI2TD7c6lOzlsw9Bn5dkhKSiikBAxjjeP7a/s1600/PA170012.JPG" height="640" width="638" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
