2009 Tubac Holiday Artisan Market: Fourth Piece Finished and Delivered!

Hello my Blogland friends!

Well...it is finally finished:  the fourth and final submission for the 2009 Tubac Holiday Artisan Market called "Summer" :

I started with a huge copper bead that I etched and colored, and then heaped about 20 small flower/bead/crystal charms on top of it.  The chains for the necklace and the bracelet are made from jasper, Austrian crystal and German glass beads, and both pieces have small groupings of flower charms hanging sporadically from different links.  The earrings are made from copper, and have flower and bead charms hanging from them as well.

I think this is my favorite of the four sets - the colors and the design are really fun, and I loved making all three pieces.

I delivered all four sets to Tubac today, and am happy to be able to get them into their hands and out of mine.  I encourage anyone who lives in the Phoenix/Tuscon area to make the trip and see the exhibit, opening November 20th and running through January 2nd.  I snuck a peek at some of the other artists' pieces, and they are unbelievably beautiful!

Tubac Holiday Artisan Market - Third Piece

Ok - here's the third of four pieces I am submitting to the 2009 Tubac Holiday Artisan Market called "Winter" :

"Winter"

The layered metal centerpieces are based on the first Jewelry pieces we did in Deryn Mentock's Jewelry Challenge from Mary Hettmansperger's book, "Wrap, Stitch, Fold & Rivet: Making Designer Metal Jewelry" (I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to learn to work with metal in their jewelry).  They are made out of etched brass, fire-melted/patinaed copper mesh and textured and patinaed copper layered and riveted together.

The necklace & bracelet are made from beautiful deep brick/burgundy red crystals strung on recycled guitar strings (the pictures look much brighter red than the actual pieces), lengths of vintage rosary chain with burgundy glass beads and lengths of aged copper chain.

Tubac Holiday Artisan Market 2009 - Take Two

In my previous post I told you about the pieces I am submitting to the 2009 Tubac Holiday Artisan Market.  I wanted to share pictures of the second of four sets called "Spring: All Things New" :

The necklace centerpiece and earrings are made from etched copper and brass lamp banding riveted together. The necklace chain is made from hand wrapped links of crystals in various shades of pink, and brass and copper chain.

Tubac Holiday Artisan Market 2009

I got a cool e-mail a couple of weeks ago from the Tubac Center of the Arts 2009 Holiday Artisan Market Chairperson saying that she had seen my pieces on Etsy and asked if I would be willing to be an exhibitor at their event this year.   Of course I said, "Yes, thank you!"

For the past couple of weeks I have been working on 4 sets of jewelry pieces to send to the exhibition, and I have finished the first set called "Autumn":

For the necklace, the pendant is forged and etched copper, and the chain is made from handmade fused and forged copper links, lace agate stones and copper chain with a copper toggle clasp.

The bracelet and earrings both have handmade fused and forged copper links with lace agate stones, and the bracelet also has a copper toggle clasp.

I've got "Winter", "Spring" and "Summer" in the works and will share them as I complete them.  In the meantime, Check out the Tubac Center for the Arts online!
