I Am Officially the Mom Of A Teen Driver...

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Yesterday is a day that I have equally dreaded and looked forward to:  Zach's 16th birthday.  I couldn't be prouder to be this wonderful child's mother, I assure you, but the thought of him driving by himself or with anyone else who isn't me is a bit scary, I'll admit.

Whether i am ready for it or not, he did pass his driving test and can now drive himself to the endless number of band rehearsals, lacrosse practices and movies with his (terrific) girlfriend.

So I will accept this fact with pride AND (lots of) prayer:  my baby is driving...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZACH!  I love you and couldn't be prouder of you!

What a good lookin' guy! The thing I remember about when my kids got their drivers licenses is that their friends, who also had licenses, could come over at will. My house had a revolving door. Previously there was some coordination by parents because of carpooling ... but not anymore!

yes, congrats - my baby started driving in december... though our family rule is that you have to drive in the neighborhood for 30 days... i was nervous too and just wanted her to get the hang of looking for other drivers and road signs... best luck to you all - happy birthday! the worry goes away just a little when the convenience starts to kick in!!

Handsome young man, Molly. You'll get used to him driving. What are you going to do with all of your free time?

I dread the day when my children reach the driving age. I get nervous just thinking about it. My little boy turns 8 tomorrow..thankfully, I have some time..but he is already talking about the day he turns 16 and he can drive...
Your son is a handsome young man and with a good head on his shoulders, he will be a wise man behind the wheel.
