Welcome To The Bead Hoarder's Blog Hop!

Welcome to the hop!  The fabulous Lori Anderson is hosting a terrific hop today, challenging us to use all those beads we've held onto for that 'special project' in...well...special projects!

Yesterday I posted photos of beads I've been hoarding, and today I want to share the pieces I've made with some of them:

The first piece I want to share features a gorgeous copper heart focal that I won from Kristi Bowman of Kristi Bowman Design:

This is definitely a different type of design for me, but I really love how it turned out!  I had planned on using a different focal for this necklace, but after I got the necklace base made, I decided that Kristi's heart was perfectly suited for it.  It kind of has a 'Game-of-Thrones-ish' feel to it.

The second piece I'd like to share is in a completely different style from the first, and is definitely more like my usual designs:

I absolutely loved this house focal when I found it in Cindy Kovar's shop, Captured Moments.  She has so many fantastic and unusual ceramic focals and findings, and I am a frequent shopper of hers.  The beads I used to compliment the focal are from Mary Cobble of Firebabies (another favorite shop) and Cheryl Harris of Cheryl's Art.

The third piece I made features another heart (big surprise - lol!):

The small heart focal from Martha Eason at Menagerie Studio is one that I've been holding onto for a long time.  I absolutely love it, but it is smaller than most focals I use, and I wanted to find the perfect complimentary beads to go with it that wouldn't overpower it.  Mary Cobble of Firebabies to the rescue!  The copper-greenish/purplish finish on the small spacers were perfect, and look beautiful with Martha's focal.  The result is a lovely, almost dainty (at least for me) sweet necklace that could be worn by both mothers and daughters.

The fourth and final piece I want to share with you is one that I've had planned out for a very long time, but never actually put together:

It features two focal beads that I combined into one.  The bird focal is from Terri at beads2die4.  It looks like she has shut her shop down, so I am glad I picked my birdie up while she had them!  The nest focal is from Heather Powers at Humblebeads.  (If you haven't checked out her shop, you absolutely HAVE to!  Her polymer beads are to die for!)  I wanted to make sure the focal stayed front and center, but still wanted to add color and movement to the piece, so I opted for baby bell flower fringe and turquoise leather to finish off the necklace.

As always, thank you Lori Anderson for hosting this fun hop!

WOW Molly you were a busy girl. I was so focused on beads I forgot to pull out my art beads and use them in this hop. UGH. Your beautiful designs using the art beads from other talented bead makers, will make their hearts sing. I know, I've had the pleasure.

Love it - especially the bird necklace. There is another etsy designer that does pieces like that bird - not as detailed - when she posts they all sell immediately, so here is her facebook if you want to see some of her work:

All so beautiful! My fav is the one with the ceramic blue ceramic house!

Stunning, they are all gorgeous. The last one is my favorite, I love that birdie and what you did with the flowers is PERFECT!

I'm pretty sure that bird is from Jade Scott...but my favorite is the one with the Menagerie piece. I, too, have some trouble with those smaller pieces, so you've inspired me to use mine. I'm also pleased to "meet" someone else who uses Mary's beads from Firebabies; hers was the first lampwork I ever used.

Every one of your pieces is just. . .wow! I absolutely love that last one. You rocked this challenge and your stash is awesome.

Beautiful necklaces Molly, you really have a good eye for combination and colot. Love connectors you made for that first necklace. So unusual. And the little bird necklace with all the dangles is my favorite!

nicely done! The little bird is my favorite.

I love them all, but the bird is making me very happy! Beautiful wire work!

I love everything (big surprise, LOL!) The first one I think is my favorite because you mentioned Game of Thrones (I'm not lucky enough to have seen it but have read all the books), and that last piece made me smile because I have that bird focal in my book, but in red, and it looks TOTALLY unlike this bird. The pastel versus the red and yellow I had -- really cool how different she makes things! And I love your fringe (I love making wire wraps, what's wrong with me?)

Thank you SO MUCH for participating!
